M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

Hello there, lovely! I am back with another beauty product review which many beauty gurus have been raving about, M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid Foundation! I have gained knowledge of my shade, which is NC15, with the help of the beauty advisor from M.A.C.

You must be wondering what does NC represents? I was wondering about that too. With a burning curiosity in mind, I decided to google about it. M.A.C divides their color system into TWO different skin tones categories; NC represents Neutral Cool skin tone, while NW represents Neutral Warm skin tone.

Neutral Cool is warm, yellow undertones; that being said, I reckon most of the Asians skin tone falls into this category. While, on the other hand, Neutral Warm is for cool, pink undertones.

Next question you might ask yourself is “How do I know if my skin tone is truly warm or pink undertone?” Checking the color of your veins will give you a rough idea. If the veins on your wrist look greenish, that means you have a warm undertone skin. Likewise, if the veins appear to be blue-ish, it is likely that you have a cool undertone skin. Although I wish to continue discussing different skin tones etc, due to time constraint, we can leave this for another post 🙂  I hope this little section helps explain the acronyms shown on M.A.C foundation products! let’s continue with the product review.

I will be assessing this foundation based on Packaging, Longevity, Application, Texture.

In terms of the Packaging, it comes in a generic foundation glass bottle and contains about 30 ML of the liquid foundation. The material of cap that secured the foundation in the bottle is made of rubber material and soft surface texture. If you own any NARS product, you will know what I meant ” rubber material / soft surface texture.” It gives off a sleek appearance which adds on to the overall image which M.A.C aims to achieve; modern foundation. With good sides come the downsides, as you move along with this product, you will find foundation residue on your fingerprint left on the packaging. Though some said the packaging becomes sticky after a while, but I did not have such encounter with my NARS products. I am unsure about it but I think there are different factors that contributed to that;  how the product is stored; room temperature etc.

I am overall generally satisfied with the packaging of this foundation.

Moving on to the Longevity of the foundation, I would say that to assess this aspect of the foundation, you will have to assess it based on the type of skin you have.  I have a dry combination skin type and it’s sensitive.  This being said, other than my T-Zone area, the rest of my face is generally normal to dry at most times.

An hour after application

6 hours after application

The foundation blends well into my skin and what I meant by that is my huge pores around my nose and cheeks does not collect any of the foundations even hours later after application. For this aspect which I value deeply, I think this foundation is doing a pretty good job. It provides a lasting coverage, this is true to what they claim this product to be. Hence, another good point to take note of.

Then, looking at the Application of this product. You can purchase their foundation pump for easier usage of the product.

Definitely, this will help prevent any wastage.

I use a beauty blender to apply the foundation on my face and it works blends perfectly well.

If you have extra moolah to spare, you can consider their 170 synthetic rounded slant brush that is claimed by many beauty gurus on YouTube to be the brush version of a beauty blender

Moving on to the Texture of foundation, it is rather tacky than ‘liquidity’ which doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is how smoothly and blendable the product is.  It did not fall below expectation even though the texture is towards the tacky. 🙂

Lastly, to end this post, I have a few points to be mentioned. Firstly, the scent of this product is rather strong. It’s not your typical flower scent, but rather more of the ‘chemical’ scent. It is not too strong to the extent that it becomes unbearable. To get what I mean, take a trip down to your local drugstore and smell Revlon ColorStay Foundation. That is a lot stronger in chemical scent, but you get the idea. This is not by any means to bring down any brands mentioned in this post but to notify buyers who may be particular about the scent of cosmetic products that they use. 🙂

I hope this post is helpful! Have a great Xmas eve, everyone!
